Mendocino Peace Pipes Stories
Hello and thanks for checking-out Pipe Stories on the Mendocino Peace Pipes web site. My names Charles Brandenburg, I’m the owner of Mendocino Peace Pipes and also an Inn in the village of Mendocino, Didjeridoo. I plan on posting something new on Pipe Stories
Anyways………..In 1974 I was a 13 year old stoner kid, son of a great hippie family, life was good One afternoon I got a call from a buddy named John Wilmore (hi John). He told me he had been offered a job site unseen by some dude who made pipes and that he couldn’t do it cause his people wouldn’t let him (he was 14). John told me I could go in his place and tell the dude who had never seen him that I was him, John, and that I was 16 (I was 13). 8:00am the next morning I knocked on a door in some random stoner neighborhood in lower Sylmar, the San Fernando Valley town I lived my youth in, Dave Jasper opened the door asked if I was John. “Yep” and there it was I was a pipe maker. Quit going to school at 13 and made pipes for a year. After that I used my thumb and ended up bunches of cool places bunches of times. It’s a trip when you learn a skill at 13, it never leaves you. I’m 52 now and have had many occupations, a sign maker for 15 years, a retail manager for 7 or 8, a motel manager for 6 and for the past 2 and 1/2 owner of Didjeridoo Dreamtime Innwww.didjeridooinn.com) but I always know what I really am, a pipe maker. We rented a shop at 1251 North Main Street (hwy 1) in August, used the internet to order everything to start the shop, got an add in High-Times (exciting) and bamm, Mendocino Peace Pipes is born. If your ever down this way, stop in and smoke a bowl, hopefully Scoobie (my assistant) and I are busy making pipes but would gladly take a pipe break - charles@mendocinopeacepipes.
